Deux Bayous features work of Opelousas folk artist

Gerry Soileau is the Deux Bayous Gallery featured artist for the months of January and February.

Soileau’s subject matters include religious icons and Courir de Mardi Gras maskers. She also produces jewelry intertwined with religious metals and beading.

“The gallery collective is a grassroots collective that encourages experimentation through support and presentation of new works by emerging fine and craft artists that focus on sustainable practices including social, economic, biophysical and cultural. Through partnership exhibitions, outreach, and related educational programming, the gallery is dedicated to the cultural enrichment of the town of Arnaudville, the Coteau Ridge are, the state of Louisiana, and the Southern region as well as French-speaking countries.”
